Vacation!

We just spent 5 days away from home on a wonderful, blissful, relaxing vacation.

Ahhh. Vacation. I wish I was always on vacation. But then it wouldn't be a vacation would it. It'd just be real life. Then I'd need a vacation from the vacation!

Anyways. We just spent a few days down at the shore with Jeff's family, celebrating Jeff's parents amazing 35 years together.

I mean, I know I promised to love Jeff in sickness and in health, blah blah blah till death do us part... and I realize that means (god willing) will be more than 35 years together, but it still seems like an unfathomable amount of time with someone.

I mean, on our 35th wedding anniversary, BG will be 32 years old and I can hardly imagine having a 1 year old let alone a 32 year old!

But I digress. Vacation. Avalon, NJ was where we were. Yes. That's the Jersey Shore. No, not THAT Jersey Shore. Yes, we're aware that hurricane Irene just hit (practically the whole!) east coast this weekend. Which is why we only went down to Philadelphia for Saturday and Sunday, and then headed to Avalon on Monday morning.

Avalon, NJ is a cute, quaint, town with an amazing beach. The sand was unlike any other sand I've ever felt before. I don't know how much of it had to do with the fact that a huge hurricane had just come through a couple days before, but the sand was soooo fine, and it got everywhere.

BG didn't quite understand what to do with the sand. The first time she put her foot on it and the sand moved, you could see confusion in her eyes. She sat down and put her hand in it and it moved more, then she started moving the sand around, and felt it between her fingers, and... I'm sure ya'll know what happened next don't you.

Yes. She tried to eat it. In fact. She DID eat it. Then I got grossed out, tried to dust the sand off her fingers and hand, and then she got tired and started to rub her eyes with her sandy hands. So then the sand was all over her face, getting into her eyes. So then I tried to get the sand out of her eyes, which only made her want to rub her eyes more. Which only got more sand on her face.

Needless to say, BG did not spend a lot of time on the beach.

But she did spend a lot of time with her family getting lots and lots and lots of love showered down on her. Below are some pics from the weekend.

Who am I kidding, ya'll want photos of the BG!

But really, it was a FAMILY vacation, so here are more pics from the weekend.

I love the lighting in the last group of photos taken outside. The sun was setting and it was the golden hour where the light was just all around perfect. The whole weekend (minus the whole Irene snafu - which thankfully we all came away from unscathed unlike some other people I know, and minus a really awful cold/bug that BG caught after the Philadelphia leg of the trip) the weekend was just wonderful. I got to take some much needed naps, we had great family time, and a good time was had by all.
